Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men. Submitted by Drifting United Arab EmiratesDating american egyptian man 9, dating american egyptian man For those who have had successful inter-cultural relationships, what do you feel are the characteristics that signal genuinity in your man? I moved to Dubai for work and met an Egyptian man who had been working there for seven years.
We hit it off right away. Dating american egyptian man three and a half years my junior and seems to have his act together. He's a dreamer; has taken me on really sweet dates what Americans would call a dateand we just sit forever, talking about the meaning of life. He expresses great joy and tenderness with me. He's put himself at risk to help me, without a bit of hesitation.
I don't want to go into the details of that, but did want to mention it. He always spends the money on our dates. I had to insist that I contribute and he explained it was considered rude for him to allow a woman to pay. I had to explain that it would be considered rude for me to take advantage of him. I started to mention my salary once, and he hushed me, saying it was harem. He has a good job, works hard, and is trusted with a lot by his employer. He spends a couple hours a day teaching me Arabic and expresses frustration that we cannot communicate about deeper things easily.
We use his English plus a translator. He teaches me about his faith, too, but also says that he believes people should live for themselves. I think he genuinely accepts Christians but secretly wishes I was Muslim. He's introduced me to his sister, cousins, and friends. I witness constant acts of generosity and selflessness on his part towards his friends and family, and even outright strangers.
He's clearly a really good guy. He is a pretty damn good Muslim, so I was a dating american egyptian man out off by his urgency and lack of qualms in this regard. He loves Dubai and says he wants to stay here until it becomes time to move back to Egypt. He misses Egypt, but it's hard to find work there. I know how important it would be for him to take care of his mom in Egypt one day.
He did not initiate conversations of the possibility of a future in America, but sounds open to it. He also gets his ideas about America from the movies and knows all about the visa process, so I know it's something he must have fantasizes about at some point. He hasn't given me the idea dating american egyptian man he's after me for a Visa, but then I read all these horror stories. His "looking after me" nature can border on possessiveness and obsessiveness.
He sleep over me, and says it's because I'm like his "little baby. Whenever I talk about something very bad that happened to me, he changes the subject. Is this a cultural thing? For the time being, I'm just enjoying our friendship and chemistry, but my heart is falling for this guy and I wanted to get advice before I get in too deep.
By the way, all my Western AND Muslim friends have warned me about dating Arab men! Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
